seattle's fleet foxes have been catching quite a bit of buzz this week, & it's all very well deserved...not only has the band's recent five song sub pop debut, sun giant, created a stir, but their forthcoming full length, ragged wood, has leaked as well...drawing heavily from the harmonies of 70's era folk-rock, the band creates warm, inviting melodies that are familiar yet enticing at the same time...comparisons to the likes of my morning jacket & midlake are almost unavoidable, which is a great thing from where i'm sitting, as those are two of my favorite bands...& after a little more time with fleet foxes, i'm optimistic they'll join those ranks as well...this really is one of the best up & coming bands i've come across in some time, they're currently on tour with blitzen trapper & will be at schubas in chicago on april 6th.download: fleet foxes - she got dressed (fleet foxes ep, 2006)
