it's gonna be a stone gas, honey

Last week it was announced that Soul Train may soon get a proper DVD release. Big news for The Canary in that we are huge fans of middle o' the night WGN broadcasts - we can now clear out our DVRs with confidence in knowing a nice box set is in the works.

Was hoping the Soul Train news meant that the hip-hop answer to the programs success, Graffiti Rock was not far behind. Come to learn however that I stand corrected - it is already out on DVD. Check this amazing clip from the pilot.

There's a new book out about the show, called A CRITICAL HISTORY OF SOUL TRAIN ON TELEVISION. It looks at the show from its start in Chicago in 1970 to the national franchise of 2008. It contains interviews with former dancers, guests, and colleagues of Cornelius.
