yeah, sure, bonnaroo was this weekend & that's all well & good...but while those poor saps were fighting the traffic out of manchester yesterday, i was reminiscing with the old man about mustaches, soccer practice, backyard bbqs & sunday drives with casey kasem over a father's day picnic at ravinia, with special guest kenny loggins...that's right, the dude played all his hits too; like "this is it", "danny's song" (which always reminds me of this), the theme from caddyshack, the theme from footloose, um, the theme from top gun, &...some others, i guess...overall, it was a real fun evening, but mainly because i got to hang out with the fam...one disappointment though; stevie nicks, who was in town the night before, didn't stop by to join in on this karaoke classic...maybe next time.

unrelated: i also caught the levon helm band friday night at northerly island & was absolutely blown away...having never made it up to woodstock for one of his famous rambles, this, i suppose, was the next best thing, & when he busted out classics like "ophelia", "rag mama rag", "chest fever" & "the weight", i actually got goosebumps...as far as i'm concerned he should have played all night, but phil & friends, who were headlining, put on a solid show as well...levon's only got a couple more dates left on the road before heading back to the barn, so if you have the opportunity, i highly recommend checking him out.
