so i watched the documentary king corn the other night, & while it was a little slow at times, i was pretty intrigued (& a little disgusted) by how much corn goes into absolutely everything...also, the industry itself is pretty fucked up, with government subsidies (not to mention ethanol, which they didn't) pushing big farms to get even bigger, while smaller family farms go into foreclosure...on top of that, the movie gives me an excuse (not that i really needed one) to post this lovely track from the new arthur russell compilation, love is overtaking me...who knew the dude could make such accesible music...anyway, king corn won't be getting nominated for any oscars, but it's worth checking out.

related: speaking of arthur russell & documentaries, there's an arthur russell documentary that came out a couple moths ago.
