recent post on bobby charles got me thinking about rick danko's 1977 self-titled solo debut, which featured a trio of tunes co-written by charles...one, "small town talk", that was first recorded by charles for his 1972 bearsville album (which danko co-produced), & two more, "what a town" & "new mexicoe" that were written for an unreleased follow up...i love this stuff, slow southern funk matched with danko's rail thin voice...listen for ronnie wood on the first track below, & eric clapton & garth hudson (playing accordion) on the second.
