i recently caught a little bit of the "afi life achievement award tribute to al pacino" & was reminded of what a great run he put together in the early 70's; the godfather, serpico, scarecrow with gene hackman, the godfather part II & dog day afternoon all between '72 & '75...wow...he slowed down a little after that, began doing more stage work, must have smoked a ton of cigarettes & became a bit of a screamer...he still did some great work (scarface, glengarry glen ross, heat, the insider), but that four year span was incredible..
