randy newman - dayton, ohio 1903

last night's episode of rescue me (f'antastic show by the way) opened with a pretty somber montage set to randy newman's "dayton, ohio 1903", off his wonderful 1972 album, sail away...i've always thought randy newman's songs sounded very comfortable, in an old time, show tune kind of way, even with his lyrics being so satirical...this particular song always sticks out to me because i went to the university of dayton...it doesn't quite paint it as i rememeber, the drink of choice was beast, not tea, & of course it wasn't 1903, but still.
