road testing

after announcing the tracklist last week for their much anticipated upcoming album, evil urges, my morning jacket has wasted almost no time integrating those tracks into the live setting...both last night in austin & the previous night in houston, the band unveiled more than half the new album to enthusiastic receptions...check out videos from houston over at breakfast on tour...& if you're down at sxsw, you might want to reconsider avoiding that crowd at the austin music hall thursday night...if you can't make it to sxsw, you can hear the show, & many others, via npr music...evil urges arrives june 10th. (via stereogum)
.
related: my morning jacket will also be involved in the tribute to lou reed at fader fort early thursday evening, so in honor, here's a velvet underground cover from bonnaroo two years ago.
.
.
related: for more covers from mmj (54 of 'em!), head on over to you ain't no picasso.
.
update: you can individually download the new songs played at sxsw last thursday over at deaf indie elephants...as well as the show in it's entirety.
