the supreme genius of...

one of my favorite discoveries of 2007, king khan & the shrines, have just signed with vice records & are all set to release a compilation of past recordings on june 17th, entitled the supreme genius of king khan and the shrines...even more exciting though, is news that the 12-piece outfit will hit the road in july & august for their first ever u.s. tour (which includes a stop at the pitchfork festival on saturday, july 19th)...if you've ever witnessed the chaotic live performances of the king khan & bbq show, you can only imagine what's in store when ten extra musicians (including curtis mayfield & stevie wonder percussionist ron streeter) are added to the mix...for the official press release & tracklist, check out brooklyn vegan...in the mean time, here are a couple tracks from last year's fantastic what is!? that will be included in the comp...for more mp3s from the group's previous releases, check out hazlewood vinyl plastics.
